TREND ALERT: Minaudière

A key ítem for this SS13 and AW13 catwalks show the “minaudière”.  

“A minaudière is a women's fashion accessory, generally considered a jewelry piece, intended to substitute for an evening bag. A case with compartments, it allows storage for several items in a small space, such as a makeup compact, lipstick, watch, reading glasses, or keys.”
The minaudière appeared during the 1930s. Its invention is attributed to Charles Arpels, of Van Cleef & Arpels, but many jewellers and Haute Couture designers have created their own models.

 This item has become a must-have accessory. We all love simple box style bags fun shapes and motifs and surreal details are winners by the likes of Olympia Le-Tan and Charlotte Olympia and shown in the street style.

                 

Un elemento Clave que se ha mostrado en las pasarelas para esta primavera verano e invierno otoño 2013  es el “minaudière”.  

El minaudière es un accesorio en la moda de la mujer considerado como una joya que sustituye una cartera de noche”. Aperecio en los años 30s y su invención es atribuida a Charles Arpels, Van Cleef & Arpels, pero muchos joyeros y diseñadores del Haute Couture han creado sus propios modelos.
Este elemento se ha vuelto un accesorio básico. Todas amamos los estilos simples y cuadrados con motivos surreales y ganadores como el  Olympia Le-Tan and Charlotte Olympia.

 

THE BLACK AND WHITE STRIPES

I think we are all falling into the charm of the black and white trend. Several weeks ago I used this dress with a super feminine cut. As we are in spring season, I wanted to add color to my look, and I did it through these neon sandals which, as you can see, are quickly becoming my favorite of the season, not only for the color but because I LOVE this heel. Creo que todas estamos cayendo en el encanto de la tendencia blanco y negro. Hace varias semanas atrás usé este vestido con un corte súper femenino. Como estamos en temporada de primavera, quise agregarle color a mi look, y lo hice a través de estas sandalias neón que, como podrán ver, se están convirtiendo en mis favoritas de la temporada, no solo por el color sino porque AMO este tacón. WALIKING AROUND

Once again I'm back with the ever so feminine asymmetrical skirts. The fact that they're so comfortable and chic make me want to use them whenever I can. I wanted the look to have colors but without being too excessive, so I combined the skirt with a shirt in nude. I added one more bright color with an orange bag and softer colors in the accessories. When using colors, the key is to play with different intensities. I'll see you back here tomorrow with another look. Y vuelvo nuevamente a las tan femeninas faldas asimétricas. Y es que lo cómodas y chic que lucen hacen que quiera usarlas siempre que puedo. Quería que el look se viera con colores pero no tan excesivo, por lo que combiné la falda con una camisa de tela tipo mantilla en nude. Agregué un color brillante más con la cartera naranja y colores un poco más suaves en los accesorios. Al usar colores, la clave está en jugar con sus diferentes intensidades. STYLING SERIES

Desde hace varios meses estoy trabajando también como Stylist para tiendas y almacenes de renombre en mi país y es algo que amo hacer (uno de mis primeros trabajos lo pudieron ver en ESTE POST) . Bien dicen por ahí que cuando trabajas en lo que amas, jamás trabajas <3.  Quiero compartir con ustedes un poquito de esta parte de mi ya que, al fin y al cabo, siempre es el mundo de la moda. Lo compartiré de una manera diferente, a través de series de vídeos a los que he nombrado STYLING SERIES. No he podido hacer vídeo de todos los proyectos en los que he trabajado (o estoy trabajando), pero trataré de hacerlo en gran parte de ellos. ¿Qué les parece?

For several months now, I've been working also as a Stylist for renowned shops and stores in my country and it's something I really love to do. As Confucius once said, ¨choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life¨ <3. I want to share a little of this part of me because, after all, it´s all part of the fashion world. But I've decided to share it in a different way, through a series of videos called STYLING SERIES. I haven't been able do a video of every project I've worked in (or am working in), but I will try to do it in most of them. What do you think?

THE BASEBALL CAP

As I commented in this post, baseball caps are an accessory that we will see a lot this season. And yes, maybe at first it sounds strange, since it is an accessory that can give us a very masculine look (which is not the case if you know how to use them). I wanted to try this trend and loved it! I went to look at my husband's closet (he has liked baseball all his life) and found this Mets cap (his favorite team lol). To make the look feminine, despite the cap, I added heels, ripped jeans, chiffon shirt and pink bubble necklace. Super simple and chic. What do you think? Want to join in the trend? Como ya les comentaba en este post, las gorras de béisbol son un accesorio que veremos mucho esta temporada. Y si, talvez al principio te suene raro, ya que es un accesorio que puede darnos un look muy masculino (cosa que no, sabiéndola usar). Quise probar esta tendencia y me encantó! Fui a buscar al closet de mi esposo (a él desde pequeño le ha gustado el béisbol) y encontré esta gorra de los Mets (su equipo favorito jeje). Para hacer el look femenino, pese a la gorra, agregué tacones, jeans rotos, camisa chifón y un collar de burbujas rosado. Super simple y chic. ¿Qué les parece? ¿Se unen a la tendencia? Un beso

Last Monday I was a guest on the radio show Trend Studio with Maggie Cortez at Radio Femenina (102.5 FM). We talked about the style of Taylor Swift and how to achieve it. The show airs every Monday at 7 pm at Femenina 102.5 FM and, as its name implies, every Monday Maggie talks with experts about the best in trends and style and trendy artists. El lunes pasado estuve como invitada en el programa de radio Femenina (102.5 FM) Trend Studio con Maggie Cortez. Hablamos sobre el estilo de Taylor Swift y como lograrlo. El programa se transmite todos los lunes a las 7 pm en Radio Femenina 102.5 FM y, como su nombre lo dice, cada lunes Maggie habla junto a expertos de lo mejor en tendencias y del estilo de los y las artistas más trendy. Con una inmensa alegría queremos compartir con ustedes una noticia que nos llena de ilusión. A partir de la VIII edición de la revista LOOK, Maria José y yo (Raquel) comenzamos a formar parte del equipo de LOOK MAGAZINE como sus representantes en El Salvador. Yo paso a formar parte también como una de sus colaboradoras =). 

Les cuento un poquito sobre LOOK. La revista nace en Guatemala a principios del 2012 con publicaciones bimensuales. Su principal objetivo es capturar la esencia de la mujer actual y la cultura de la moda, complementando su enfoque en el poder y el valor de la feminidad de la mujer a quien se sitúa como punto central de su sociedad, mostrándole un estilo de vida glamoroso, elegante y a la moda. Today, with great joy, we share with you some news that has us really excited. From the eighth edition of LOOK magazine, Maria Jose and I (Raquel) will be joining the team of LOOK MAGAZINE as their representatives in El Salvador. I've also become one of the magazine's regular collaborators =).

Let me tell you a little about LOOK. The magazine was founded in Guatemala in early 2012 with bimonthly publications. Its main objective is to capture the essence of the modern woman and fashion culture, complementing its focus on the power and value of the femininity of women who stand as the central point of society, showing a glamorous, elegant and fashionable lifestyle. Both its content and its imaging are of such high quality, comparable to magazines of worldwide recognition.
