SPRING 2012 TREND: TRIBAL PRINTS

The tribal trend has been slowly gaining position on the runways. What was once only a trend alert has now found its way into the fashion world. When you look at these kind of outfits, they make you think of a relaxed look which can easily become a more formal look just by adding some heels.

But, how do we wear this trend:

• Combine a tribal print skirt with a basic top, just like you can see in outfit #1, which is how Kristin Cavallari and Jessica Szohr wear it.
• Use this trend with nude color shoes just like Blake Lively.
• Add contrast to your outfit and use a bag or heels with any of the colors in your tribal print.
• For a great summer look, try to combine this trend with some sunglasses, just like Paris and Nicky Hilton.

La tendencia tribal ha venido poco a poco a posicionarse en las pasarelas, y lo que antes era solo un trend alert ahora esta poco a poco abarcando terreno en el mundo de la moda.  Al verlos, hacen pensar en un look relajado que al solo agregarle tacones, lo conviertes en algo un poco más formal.

Pero, ¿cómo usar esta tendencia?:

• Combina una falda tribal con un top básico, así como te lo presentamos en outfit #1, y como lo lucen Kristin Cavallari y Jessica Szohr.
• Usa la tendencia con zapatos color nude así como los usa Blake Lively.
• Agrégale contraste a tu atuendo y usa una cartera o tacones de alguno de los colores de tu estampado tribal.
• Para un look más veraniego combina esta tendencia con lentes de sol, así como Paris y Nicky Hilton.

 Here are our favorite trends from the Milan Fashion Week.

Estos son nuestras tenedencias favoritas del el Milán Fashion Week.

MINT CRUSH

The pastel color trend will be, without a doubt, one of the most loved of this year's spring season. Personally, I plan to use it as often as possible. I love all pastel colors because of how they add such a ladylike image. And I can't deny which is my favorite: MINT!!!  I'd previously used this color in a different outfit which you can see here. 

I had been looking for mint colored pants for quite some time, and I finally found one in Bershka. To mantain the soft colors, I combined it with a sand-colored Zara sweater and Bershka shoes of the same color. I loved this sweater as soon as I laid eyes on it. It's super simple and yet it has a different touch with a stylish cut in the back.  I've got a few more outfits in mind so I can use this sweater many more times =). 

Since the look was mainly composed of soft colors, I decided to add another tone with a Tory Burch camel-colored bag.  It's definitely an understatement to say that Tory Burch is one of my favorite brands.  It really is impossible for me to go on their webpage and not buy something. 

As for accessories, I chose a pair of leaf-shaped golden earrings which I happen to love (on future posts we'll be talking more about a particular trend with leaf-shaped accessories).  I bought these ones at a friend's store called Accento.  For those of you who live in El Salvador, you can visit their Facebook page to see all the great accessories and clothes they have which I'm sure you'll love.

La tendencia de los colores pastel, sin duda, será una de las más queridas para la primavera. Y yo en lo personal pienso usarla lo más que se pueda. Me encantan todos los colores pastel porque se me hace que dan una imagen muy ladylike, pero no puedo negar que tengo mi favorito: EL MINT!!!!

Ya anteriormente he usado este color en otro outfit, y pueden verlo aquí.

Andaba buscando desde hace días un pantalón en este color, y encontré uno exactamente como lo andaba buscando en Bershka. Para manter los colores siempre suaves, lo combiné con un sweater color arena de Zara, y zapatos de Bershka del mismo color. Este sweater me encantó al solo verlo.  Es super sencillo pero el toque diferente se lo da la pequeña abertura que tiene en la espalda. Tengo en mente varios outfits más con este sweater para usarlo muchísimas veces =).

Como todo en el look es en tonos suaves, quise agregarle un color más, y lo hize con esta cartera Tory Burch en color camel. Ya de sobra está decir que Tory Burch es mi marca consentida. Es imposible meterme a la página online, sin tener que comprar algo.

Los accesorios los elegí en tonos dorados. Los aritos me gustan muchísimo, son en forma de hoja (en uno de los próximos posts les hablaré de la tendencia de accesorios en formas de hojas) y los compré en la tienda de una amiga que se llama Accento . Para las que viven en El Salvador pueden visitar la página de Facebook, ya que tienen accesorios lindísimos, así como ropa que estoy segura que les va a encantar.

SAME SWEATER DIFFERENT LOOK !!

This is another outfit using the neon green sweater that you've seen on me before before. As I've said before, it's not necessary to spend a lot of money to dress differently. You can do a lot using the same garments you already own only by giving them a different look.

This time I combined the neon sweater with a black skirt and tucking in the sweater. This is a look that may be destined for a night out at a bar, compared with the previous look, which was a bit more informal.

Este es otro outfit usando el sweater neon que anteriormente me vieron aquí. Como ya les he dicho, no es necesario gastar y gastar para vestirnos diferentes, solo basta usar las mismas prendas pero dándoles un look diferente.

Esta vez combiné el sweater neón, siempre con negro, pero ahora con una falda y usando el sweater por dentro. Un look, más para una noche en un bar que el anterior, que era un poco más informal.

SPRING - SUMMER 2012 TREND: CROP TOPS

OUTFIT #1

Remember those Crop Tops that were a trend back in the 80's??? Well they're back!

When using them we run the risk of showing a little too much skin, so we must be careful to prevent our body from being too "exposed". So to avoid this, here are a few tips:

• If you dare to use a crop top in which you show a little more belly, be sure to use high-waisted jeans or pants.
• Use them with a maxi skirt and add a hat and sandals to create the perfect summer look. (OUTFIT #1)
• Also use them with mini skirts, just not any mini skirt. Try to find one with a high cut, like an "A" line adjusted to your body and choose a crop top that's not so tight and not so short. (OUTFIT #7 Y 8)
• Try a sleeveless crop top with flower print,add high-waisted jeans and you'll be adding a touch of 70's look. (OUTFIT #3)
• Surely you have a button blouse on your closet. Use that same blouse in crop style just by unbuttoning the las two buttons and tying it. (LIKE JLO)

As we can se, the key is that whatever it is you decide to wear below (either a skirt, short, jeans or pants), make sure it is high-waisted. 

This is a trend that can genuinely be used in practically all sizes. So for those of you who can't make up your mind or who wear large sizes, we also have a few tips for you:

• You can use a top inside the Crop Top. This way you'll be wearing the trend without actually showing skin.
• Another good option is to use them on top of a dress. (OUTFIT #9)
• There are also Crop Tops that are not necessarily so short. They're exactly what we're used to seeing, but covering what needs to be covered.

So there really is no excuse!!!

In order to give you a better idea of how to wear these, here are a few outfits combined by us making use of this trend and a few examples of celebrities as well.

Regresan los  Crop Tops, que tan de moda estuvieron en los 80´s.

Al usarlos se puede correr con el riesgo de enseñar mucha piel y debemos de tener mucho cuidado para que nuestro cuerpo no quede demasiado "expuesto". Asi que para que eso no pase te damos unos consejitos:

• Si te atreves a usar un crop top en el que se tenga que eseñar un poco más de pancita, usa un jeans o pantalón de cintura alta.
• Úsalos con una falda maxi, y agrégale un sombrero y sandalias y tienes un perfecto look de verano. (OUTFIT #1)
• Úsalos también con "mini faldas", claro, no cualquiera. Busca una que sea de corte alto, ya sea en linea "A" ajustada a tu cuerpo y escoge un crop top que sea flojito y que no sea tan corto. (OUTFIT #7 Y 8)
• Lleva un crop top desmangado y floreado, agrégale un high waist jeans y le darás un toque muy 70´s a tu look. (OUTFIT #3)
• Seguro tienes una blusa de botones en tu clóset, pues esa misma blusa llévala en estilo crop, con solo no abotonar los últimos dos botones y amárrala. (COMO JLO)

Como podemos ver, la clave esta en que lo que lleves abajo, ya sea falda, short, jeans o pantalón, sea de cintura alta.

Tambén es una tendencia que puede ser usada por mujeres de cualquier talla. Así que para aquellas que no se deciden porque son de tallas grande o "curvy", también les tenemos unos consejos:

• Usalos con una camisa tipo top por dentro, asi, siempre estarás usando la tendencia pero sin enseñar tu estómago.  (OUTFIT  #10)
• Otra buenísima opción es usarlos encima de un vestido. (OUTFIT #9)
• O también hay cortes de Crop Tops que no necesariamente son cortos, sino que son exactamente iguales que a los que estamos acostumbradas a ver, pero tapando lo que tiene que tapar.

Asi que no hay excusa!!!!!

Y para que se hagan una mejor idea de como pueden ser usados, aquí las dejamos, como siempre, con outfits hechos por nosotras usando la tendencia, y también de celebridades.

OUR FAVORITE STYLE FROM FASHION WEEK DIRECTLY FROM LONDON!

I love European fashion and I love how it comes right after the New York Fashion week fall 2012. On this occasion, many talented designers show their ways such as Stella McCartney, Erdem and McQ, Christopher Kane, Burberry, as well as Alexander McQueen and others, directly from England.

Since everyone who is truly passionate about fashion is aware of this runway, we would like to show you some or our favorite fashion show moments.

Me encanta la moda europea y amo como este desfile de moda se nos presenta justo después de la semana de la moda New York otoño 2012. En esta ocasión muchos diseñadores talentosos muestran su diseños. Entre ellas: Stella McCartney, Erdem y McQ, Christopher Kane, Burberry, McQueen y otros directamente de Inglaterra.

Como a todos los que nos apasiona la moda estamos pendientes de este desfile, quisiéramos mostrarles algunos de nuestros momentos favoritos de este fashion show. 

A TOUCH OF COLOR & HIGH WAIST PANTS

Who says something classic has to be boring? Lots of times it's enough just by adding a touch of color to what we are wearing can turn the whole classic outfit into something fun.

This is exactly what I wanted to do with this outfit.  I chose a white blouse, black pants and I added a necklace with colors to avoid the outfit being too serious. I also tucked in the blouse to create a different and more stylish look. I'm liking these high waist pants more and more because they really add a special touch and, as I said, they give the look lots of style.

¿Quién dice que lo clásico siempre tiene que ser aburrido? Muchas veces con solo agregar un toque de color a lo que tenemos puesto puede hacer que convirtamos un outfit clásico, en divertido.

Esto es lo que quise hacer con este outfit. Elejí una camisa blanca y un pantalón negro, y le agregué un collar de colores para no hacerlo parecer tan serio. También me metí la camisa a el pantalón para hacer un look diferente y estilizado. Esto de usar pantalones high waist me esta gustando muchísimo, porque no solo hacen verte diferente, sino que, como ya lo dije, hacen que tu look se vea más estilizado.

OUR FAV DESIGNS OF OUR FAV DESIGNERS FROM NYFW FALL 2012 - PART II

MARCHESA

It's true that people always save the best for last, and that's exactly what happened on the last four days of the New York Fashion Week.  There were several designs that caught our eye and inspired us.

One of my favorite, as you know, is Tory Burch. Her collection amazed me with designs on leather, metallics and sequins, with predominance in colors red, blue, purple, gold and beige. 

Vera Wang marked a trend with her transparent dresses and architecturally inspired designs, perfectly outlining the silhouette in gray, tangerine, blue and black.

On his part, Michael Kors offered designs with blanket fabrics, fabrics with squares, wool, lace and sequins.

Narciso Rodrigues proposed a very feminine collection with silk structured dresses.

And, both Oscar de la Renta and Marchesa presented designs we'll be sure to see in an upcoming red carpet. 

Here are my favorite designs from each of these great designers.

Es verdad que lo mejor siempre viene al final, y precisamente eso es lo que vimos en los últimos cuatro días del New York Fashion Week.

Se presentaron propuestas que sin duda, nos han inspirado mucho. 

Una de mis favoritas, como ya lo saben, es Tory Burch y su colección no dejó de asombrarme, proponiendo diseños en cuero, metales y lenejuelas, predominando los colores rojo, azul, morado, dorado y beige.

Vera Wang, marcó tendencia en cuanto a vestidos transparentes y con diseños de inspiración arquitectónica y marcando perfectamente la silueta en colores gris, tangerine, azul y negro.

Por su parte Michael Kors,  ofreció diseños con telas de manta, cuadros, lana, encaje y lentejuelas.

Narciso Rodríguez  propone una colección muy femenina y apostando por vestidos de seda estructurados.

Y tanto Oscar de la Renta como Marchesa, mostraron diseños que seguramente veremos en las próximas alfombras rojas.

Estos son mis diseños favoritos de cada uno de estos grandes diseñadores.

ZARA MARCH 2012 LOOKBOOK !

Zara, as usual, proposes some great designs, and their march lookbook is not the exception. In this case, the designs that caught my eye were prints and pastel colors. So I leave you with the Zara March LOOKBOOK.

Red dress collection Fashion Show I heart fashion ! Who said it was just about shoes and brands? The Heart Truth^® sure know how to get to women, creating a national symbol for women and heart disease: a Red Dress.

This fashion show inspires women to take action and take care of their hearts and their health. It's held every February and it has come to life on the runway with the support of the fashion industry and celebrity models at the Red Dress Collection Fashion Show.

So while we remember to take care of our health and our heart, lets also take a look at these dresses that kicked off the New York Fashion Week

Yo amo la moda! ¿Quién dijo que moda es solo de zapatos y marcas? El movimiento americano The Heart Truth sabe como llegar a la mujer, creando un símbolo nacional para la mujer y para los padecimientos del corazón: por medio de un Vestido rojo.

Este es un fashion show inspirado en mujeres, para que tomemos acción a cuidarnos el corazón y la salud. Este se da cada febrero y ha tomado forma en la pasarela con el soporte de la moda, modelos y de personalidades en la pasarela con la colección de vestidos rojos Red Dress Collection Fashion Show.

Así que mientras nos acordamos de cuidarnos nuestra salud y nuestro corazón, veamos los vestidos Rojos que se unen al New York Fashion Week.

MINT PLEATED SKIRT

You can find my three favorite trends on this skirt: pastel colors, pleated form and asymmetric cut.

I saw it in Zara last week and I didn't hesitate to buy it. Best of all is that it's really comfortable and it can be used in many different ways, either in informal occasions or formal ones.

This time I am using it with a crochet top, also from Zara which, believe it or not, I bought on sale last year and hadn't had a chance to wear it until now.  In future posts I'll talk a little more about this top. To complement this look I added golden accessories.

 Mis tres tendencias favoritas están impresas en esta falda: los colores pastel, los paletones y el corte asimétrico.

La ví en Zara la semana pasada y no dudé ni un segundo en comprarla. Y lo mejor de todo es que es sumamente cómodo y puede ser usada de muchísimas maneras, tanto para ocasiones informales, como para ocasiones un poco más formales.

Esta vez la estoy usando con un top en crochet, también de Zara, y que aunque no lo crean, lo compré en las rebajas del año pasado y no me lo había puesto. De este "Top" en futuros post les contaré un poco más. Para complementar el look, le agregué accesorios dorados.

SPRING 2012 COLOR TREND: TANGERINE

I believe this color trend will not only last for the spring season, but it'll roll into summer as well.   Being a contrasting color, it'll definitely add a little more color to our skin, even if we are not tanned yet. And, once we are tanned, tangerine will definitely help highlight that color even more. 

It's perfect for putting colorblock outfits together (outfits #4, 7 and 9), and its best allies are royal blue, fuchsia and purple. It's also great to highlight a more simple look, like in outfit # 6. 

And if what you want is to wear this trend on more formal occasions, the only thing you have to do is use your complements (bags, belts or shoes) in black (outfit #7).

Tangerine is also an excellent option for use as a "one minute makeover" since just by adding shoes, necklaces or bags of that color will make your look change completely.

Creo que la tendencia de este color no solamente será de la primavera, sino que se alargará hasta el verano.

Al ser un color que contrasta, hará ver nuestra piel con un poco más de color, aunque no estemos bronceadas todavía. Y, ya cuando podamos lograr un lindo bronceado, el tangerine, hará resaltarlo aún mas.

Es perfecto para armar atuendos colorblock (outfit #4, 7 y 9 ), siendo sus mejores aliados el royal blue, el fuschia y el morado. También es perfecto para hacer resaltar un look más simple, como es el caso del outfit #6.

Y si lo que quieres es usar esta tendencia en ocasiones más formales, lo único que tienes que hacer, es usar los complementos  (cartera, cincho o zapatos), en color negro (outfit #7).

También el tangerine es una excelente opción para usarlo como "one minute makeover", ya que con solo agregarle a tu outfit: zapatos, collares o cartera en este tono, hará que tu look se vea completamente diferente.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

What better color than red to celebrate Valentine's Day. This is what I wore Thursday night when I went out to dinner with my husband. We don't like to celebrate Valentine's Day on that day because it's impossible. All the restaurants are packed and it takes forever, so we decided to celebrate early. And in order to look accordingly I decided to add a touch of red to my outfit, with a red sweater, black pants which you had already seen me wear here, and red shoes. By wearing red sweater and red shoes, black seemed like the perfect color of pants to tone down a bright color such as this. In addittion, I also liked how it combined with the color gold, so I added a Tory Burch bag which I hadn't had a chance to show you on my birthday.

Qué mejor color que el rojo para celebrar el día de San Valentín. Y esto fue lo que usé el jueves por la noche para ir a cenar con mi esposo. No nos gusta mucho cenar en el propio día de San Valentín, porque es imposible. Todos los restaurantes estan llenísimos, así que decidimos adelantarlo. Y para sentirme acorde a la fecha decidí darle un toque de rojo a mi outfit, con un sweater rojo, pantalones negros que ya me los habían visto por aqui, y zapatos rojos. Al llevar tanto sweater como zapatos en color rojo, qué mejor que el negro para poder bajar un poquito un color tan fuerte como ese. Además me gusto como se ve la combinación con el dorado, por lo que le agregué la cartera Tory Burch que no pude enseñarles en las fotos de mi cumpleaños.

FALL 2012 NY FASHION WEEK: OUR FAV DESIGNS

 Last Thursday was the beginning of the Mercedez Benz NY Fashion Week. We are only halfway through this big event in which big time designers are presenting their Fall 2012 collections. It's really difficult to summarize the best of each collection and I really had a hard time leaving several designs out.
So here are my favorite designs for each of the collections presented so far. With still 4 days to go, there's sure to be more fall trends to talk about. Which are your favorite so far?

El jueves pasado dio inicio la Mercedes Benz NY Fashion Week. Y apenas vamos por la mitad del gran evento en los que grandes diseñadores nos han presentado sus colecciones para el Otoño 2012. Se nos hace difícil resumir lo mejor de cada una de las colecciones, así que para este post me costó muchísimo dejar afuera varios diseños que me encantaron.

En escencia estos fueron mis diseños favoritos de cada una de las colecciones de los diseñadores que hasta el momento se han presentado. Faltan todavía cuatro días más en los que seguramente tomaremos nota de más tendencias para el próximo otoño. ¿Cuáles fueron los suyos?

WHITE & NEON

On Sunday we got together with some friends to watch the Superbowl (or pretend to anyway) and I chose this outfit. To continue with the neon color trend I decided to combine these hot pink pants which you had already seen here, with a white Zara shirt which was one of my Christmas presents which I hadn't had a chance to wear yet. 

To complement the look and balance the clear tones, I chose black colored flats, bag (another Christmas present) and necklace.

El domingo nos reunimos en casa de unos amigos a ver el Superbowl, y escogí éste outfit. Y para seguir con la tendencia del neón quise combinar éstos pantalones hot pink que ya me los habían visto aquí, con una camisa blanca Zara que fue uno de los regalos que recibí en navidad y que no me había podido poner. 

Para complementar el look y balancear los tonos claros, tanto los flats, como la cartera (que fué un regalo de navidad también), y el collar son en color negro.
